Forgiveness for the Helpless

Mark 1 ends with images of what the coming of the Kingdom (1:15) looks like, and specifically, what the King of that Kingdom looks like. He bears spiritual authority (1:21-28), healing power (1:29-34), teaching authority (1:35-39), and cleansing authority (1:40-45).

Mark 2 continues the theme of the King’s authority, but to another level entirely: Jesus, in His own name and authority, forgives a man his sins. This man was paralyzed and came to Him for healing, and he left with a new body and a new heart!
