Request (Pantoum)

“What do you want for Me to do?”
A question not easily met,
For if we were to speak the truth
Our shame we would not soon forget.

A question not easily met,
But grace He offers to us still;
Our shame we would not soon forget
If not for His sovereign will.

But grace He offers to us still,
All those who come He’ll not cast out.
If not for His sovereign will,
We would be left in darkest doubt.

From Him we get our life and breath
Our depth of need, we know not all;
If we ignore His life and death
We lightly think of Jesus’ call.

Our depth of need, we know not all
For if we were to speak the truth,
We lightly think of Jesus’ call:
“What do you want for Me to do?”
